The President of Renamo, the largest opposition party in Mozambique, Ossufo Momade, dismissed the secretary general of the organization, André Majibire, in a decision for which "the dynamics of the party weighed," said yesterday the spokesman of this political formation.
Jose Manteigas told Radio Mozambique that Majibre stepped down as secretary general of Renamo on Friday, following Ossufo Momade's decision.
About the reasons for his resignation, the Renamo spokesman said that it falls under the "discretionary powers of the party president" and that "the internal dynamics" weighed for the decision.
"There is no behavior, at least to my knowledge, that influenced the president's decision, it was within the discretionary power and I think that, above all, the dynamics of the party also weighed," Manteigas said.
The Renamo spokesman said that Ossufo Momade has not yet nominated a new secretary general, but will do so after "reflection.
It should be noted that André Majibire is a senior cadre and Renamo MP in the National Assembly, having assumed the post of secretary-general of the main opposition party in April 2019 to replace Manuel Bissopo.
