From August 1st to September 30th, applications are open for the Imprensa Nacional/ Eugénio Lisboa Prize, an award instituted by the Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda [INCM], which annually honors unpublished works in the field of literary prose.

All Mozambican citizens (residing in Mozambique or abroad) or foreign citizens residing in Mozambique for at least 5 years can apply.

In this 8th edition of the Imprensa Nacional/Eugénio Lisboa Prize, applications will once again be made exclusively to online, in site from the National Press, available here: https://imprensanacional.pt/premios-literarios/premio-imprensa-eugenio-lisboa/

The jury for the Prize is made up of writer and professor Lucílio Manjate (who chairs it), professor Sara Laisse and the editor-in-chief of the Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda, Paula Mendes.

In addition to the cash prize of 5000 euros, the Imprensa Nacional/Eugénio Lisboa Prize also includes the publication of the winning work by INCM.

It should be remembered that previous editions of the Imprensa Nacional/Eugénio Lisboa Prize have already distinguished, among winners and honorable mentions, the following works Serious Worldby Pedro Pereira Lopes, I drank from the Zambeziby António Manna, Gold Sagaby Aurélio Furdela, Stained Dreams, Lived Dreamsby Agnaldo Bata, The Island of Mulattoesby Sérgio Raimundo, Puppet Theater (or Essay on the Descriptive Mechanics of the Desertification of Men)by Jofredino Faife, Disruption, by Fátima Tachyderm, The Man Who Lived on the Runby Japone Agostinho, Marizza, by Mélio Tinga, and Evaby Léo Cote.

The Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda created this award in 2017 to encourage literary creation in Mozambique and, at the same time, to pay tribute to Eugénio Lisboa, who died in April this year at the age of 93, leaving us a vast body of work including essays, literary criticism, poetry, diaries and memoirs.
