In anticipation of June 25, national independence day, the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, distinguished 851 Mozambican citizens with the "Veteran of the Mozambique Liberation Struggle Medal" by Presidential Decree.

The award, according to Rádio Moçambique, comes in recognition of his active participation in the National Liberation Struggle, on the fronts of armed or clandestine struggle, diplomatic combat and information and propaganda.

The Head of State's recognition also included the battle for the triumph of independence, as well as the selfless effort to enhance the achievements of national independence, Mozambicanness and national development.

In a Presidential Order, the Head of State delegated powers to the Secretary of State of Maputo City and of all the country's provinces, for the Imposition of Honorary Titles and Decorations on national citizens and legal persons, on June 25, 2024.
