Today in Maputo City, the President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Defense and Security Forces, Filipe Nyusi, led the central ceremonies of the 60th anniversary celebrations.
The event is alluding to the outbreak of the National Liberation Struggle and the Day of the Armed Defense Forces of Mozambique (FADM).
The event is being held under the slogan: "Mozambique's Armed Defense Forces: 60 Years at the Service of Mozambique and Mozambicans".
As we speak, the Head of State is laying a wreath in the Square of Mozambican Heroes, followed by the unveiling of a tombstone alluding to the renovation of the Eduardo Chivambo Mondlane monument and statue, located in the Alto-Maè neighborhood.
Afterwards, the Head of State will lead the military parade, operational demonstrations and the decorations ceremony for national entities, on Avenida 10 de Novembro, as well as visiting a static exhibition on display next to the former FACIM site.
The event was attended by a number of participants, most notably the Minister of National Defense, Cristóvão Artur Chume, who was on stage yesterday to do the final rehearsals.
And the Chief of the General Staff, Joaquim Mangrasse, who also closely followed the military's final rehearsals for the event.
