Four lifeless bodies were discovered by the population, two on the banks of the Muaguide river in Ancuabe district, and two others in Metoro district, both in the south of Cabo Delgado.
Two bodies were found halfway between the fields and the houses. Quoted by Lusa, sources reported that the bodies, of father and son, showed signs of violence.
"The victims lived in the village and were returning from the machamba in the afternoon," on Tuesday, reported, a resident of the village of Mbonge.
The same source said that the discovery occurred after the father and son were strangely delayed, and immediately raised suspicions of murder, given the insecurity in the province.
Another resident in Metoro, in the same district, reconstructed the account of relatives of an elderly couple found dead in a vegetable garden 10 kilometers from the population center, also showing signs of assault.
"We are crying" about the situation, he said, and there is "fear" of going back to the 'machambas', said another resident.
The case was confirmed by different local sources.
The population and local authorities suspect that these killings near the Muaguide river and in the vicinity of Metoro are the work of an armed group hiding in the woods of that area.
On Monday, an unidentified group of hooded men with guns looted and burned houses in Nacuale, another village in the district. (Lusa/Visão)
