PODEMOS, the country's second largest party, on Saturday denounced the killing of 106 members and supporters allegedly by the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) since the start of the post-election demonstrations.
Most of the cases were registered in Zambézia province, in the center of the country, where at least 100 people were shot dead and 15 others wounded, according to the party.
The party says that the victims are selectively chosen, with an emphasis on those who led various movements during the post-election demonstrations.
"The people who are being executed are duly selected and shot, and some of them are found during their work activities," revealed the Secretary General of PODEMOS, Sebastião Mussanhane, at a press conference in Maputo.
The head of the PODEMOS parliamentary caucus also denounces acts of persecution of its members in Cabo Delgado province.
He said that unidentified people are carrying out an action to collect data from its members for, he said, unconfessed purposes.
In this sense, the party demands that the perpetrators of the crimes be held accountable, with a view to guaranteeing a peaceful environment not only for its members, but also for all Mozambicans.
