Two more weather radars will be installed in the country starting next year

País vai contar com mais dois radares meteorológicos a partir do próximo ano

The country will have two more weather radars by the first quarter of next year, said the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Dina Ribeiro.

According to Dina Ribeiro, the radars, to be installed in Xai-Xai, in Gaza province, and in Nacala-Porto, in Nampula province, are part of a project to acquire seven weather radars by the government, in partnership with the African Development Bank.

The government official, who was speaking this Friday in Maputo at the Seminar to Evaluate and Balance the 2022-2023 Rainy and Cyclonic Season, was quoted by RM as saying that the initiative aims to reduce the impact of climate change and strengthen the country's early warning system.

It should be noted that with these two acquisitions, the country will now have a total of three radars, the first of which is in Sofala province, in the city of Beira.
