The United Nations will provide more than 37 million dollars to support the victims of Tropical Cyclone Jude in Nampula Province.
The money will also help around three million Mozambicans who are vulnerable due to the drought affecting the central and southern regions of the country.
The data was released yesterday in Maputo by the Head of the United Nations Office in Mozambique, Paola Emerson, at a press conference.
Emerson was quoted by Rádio Moçambique as saying that early information and operational actions have helped to prevent the impact of the effects of drought and cyclones on communities.
The Head of the United Nations Office in Mozambique also said that the destruction of access roads by Cyclone JUDE is hampering humanitarian assistance to 388,000 people in 37 districts of the country's northern provinces.
Nampula province suffered the most from the impact of Cyclone Jude, which entered the country on March 10. The most recent figures indicate that 97,000 families were affected by Cyclone Jude in Nampula province.
