The World Health Organization (WHO) warns of the need for vigilance on Covid-19 in all countries.
WHO Director-General Thedros Ghebreyesus was quoted by the international press as saying that there has been an increase in hospitalizations due to the coronavirus and that almost 10,000 people died from the disease in December alone.
According to the source, the deaths occurred in less than 50 countries on the American and European continents.
Thedros Ghebreyesus said that the increase in transmission of the virus was boosted by family gatherings during the Christmas and New Year festivities and by the circulation of the new JN-1 variant, the most common in the world today.
