The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, today sent a message of congratulation to the French President, Emmanuel Macron, for his re-election, and expressed Mozambique's willingness to strengthen bilateral relations between the two states.
"I take this opportunity to once again reiterate my willingness and commitment to continue with the ongoing bilateral work, with a view to strengthening ever closer the ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation that exist between our two nations," Filipe Nyusi said.
Emmanuel Macron was re-elected President of France on Sunday, getting 58.55% of the vote in the second round of elections, against 41.45% for Marine Le Pen, the far-right candidate.
In 2017, the first time the two faced each other in presidential elections, Emmanuel Macron won with 66.10% of the vote, against Marine Le Pen's 33.90%, i.e. with a significantly clearer lead than in Sunday's election.
