Nyusi says terrorists continue to carry out sporadic attacks

Nyusi diz que terroristas continuam a fazer ataques esporádicos

The President of the Republic said on Tuesday in Tanzania that there continue to be sporadic attacks by terrorists in Cabo Delgado, motivated by the theft of food.

The Head of State, who is visiting the Republic of Tanzania, took the opportunity to talk about the progress that has been made in the fight against terrorism.

"There are no villages in the hands of terrorists or violent extremists, nor in the towns. The terrorists have no fixed bases now. They're nomads, they move around. It's true that they continue to carry out sporadic attacks, on the one hand to show that they exist, and secondly for their own sustainability. They go to steal food from people's stalls, but even so, they have been receiving responses that are up to the task, provided by SAMIM, the Mozambican Defense and Security Forces and other countries that have been cooperating with us, in this particular case Rwanda, which is still there," he explained.
In terms of cooperation with Tanzania, Nyusi highlighted the various fronts on which they have worked together over the years, and expressed the need to strengthen this economic cooperation between the neighboring nations.

This cooperation could also extend to the air transport sector, as the President of Tanzania mentioned, while also expressing the desire for greater complementarity with the airlines.
