Around 90% of the seed circulating in the country is thought to be fake and of dubious provenance. This is the conclusion of a study carried out in partnership with the Association for the Promotion of the Seed Sector.The FAO has been working with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The document, quoted by Rádio Moçambique, was presented this Friday in Quelimane and indicates that many farmers use grain instead of certified seeds.
"We identify that it's fake seed many times after we've sown the product; when different plants start to appear, with very different characteristics," the source told RM
