The multi-millionaire entrepreneur and owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, is considering changing the brand name and logo of the social network, known for its tiny blue bird.
In a statement released on Saturday, Elon Musk said that "we will soon be saying goodbye to the Twitter brand and, gradually, to all the birds". However, the owner did not say what the new logo will be.
In Saturday's publication, Musk posted on his Twitter profile a video of a user of the platform, showing Twitter's current logo, a blue bird, replaced by a flashing "X".
"If a good enough 'X' logo is posted tonight, we'll put it out all over the world tomorrow," he added.
After buying Twitter in October 2022 for 44 billion dollars, Elon Musk changed the company's name to "X Corp" in April 2023, and regularly talks about turning the social network into a multifaceted app with financial services, like WeChat in China.
Responding on Twitter to a question from a user who asked if Twitter would be accessible from the x.com address, Elon Musk replied: "Of course".
X.com was the name and website of the online bank founded by the entrepreneur that later became the online payment service PayPal.
If the name change goes ahead, it would come at a difficult time for Twitter, where Elon Musk has laid off around half the team and advertising revenue has halved.
