Nedbank Mozambique renews partnership agreement with Gorongosa National Park

Nedbank Moçambique renova acordo de parceria com o Parque Nacional da Gorongosa

Nedbank Mozambique and Gorongosa National Park (PNG) recently renewed their partnership agreement, reaffirming the Bank's commitment to continue supporting PNG's conservation efforts.

This agreement was formalized during a ceremony held in Gorongosa National Park, where Nedbank pledged its continued support to the Park's Conservation Department, which oversees the management of the protected areas and the surrounding areas.

This support includes not only the Bank's direct contribution, but also the contributions of individuals and entities who, by using the Gorongosa prepaid and credit cards, actively participate in this effort to preserve this unique natural heritage of Mozambique.

Some of the Conservation Department's programs, from Veterinary Services to Wildlife Surveillance and Management, are geared towards ensuring the sustainable protection of Gorongosa's biodiversity.

With Nedbank's support, the Park will be able to strengthen its enforcement operations and expand the rehabilitation program for endangered species, such as the pangolin, whose survival is at risk due to the trafficking of protected species and habitat loss.

During the signing of the agreement, Joel Rodrigues, Chairman of Nedbank's Executive Committee, highlighted the positive impact of the PNG on environmental preservation and the development of local communities.

"Supporting Gorongosa National Park is a way of contributing directly to the protection of our natural heritage and to the recognition of this park as one of the largest in Africa," he said.

Pedro Muagura, PNG Administrator, expressed his satisfaction with the renewal of the partnership, stressing the importance of Nedbank's support in strengthening the Park's capacity to monitor and combat poaching.

"We are very happy with the renewal of this partnership, which we hope will bear much fruit for conservation. The support of impact partners like Nedbank is essential to enable us to achieve significant impact on a large scale... ready to conserve the environment," said Muagura.
