In Nampula province, the country's largest constituency, more than 3,000 national observers have already been accredited for the October 9 elections. On the other hand, 33,000 polling station staff will be hired.
"At the moment, we have managed to accredit around 3,040 observers, which is the result of 3,454 applications received and 414 are still in the process of being accredited," said Daniel José Ramos, president of the Provincial Electoral Commission in Nampula, quoted in the newspaper "O País".
In terms of press coverage, the source revealed that the electoral process will be widely covered, with 322 journalists already accredited and 34 more on the list.
According to the same publication, 36,000 polling station staff will be trained, of which 33,000 will be hired.
"We have recruited approximately 2,000 candidates to be provincial trainers of polling station staff. They will have the task of training around 36,000 polling station staff candidates.
Of this number, around 33,000 candidates will be selected, spread across the 23 districts that make up Nampula province," said Luís Cavalo, director of the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration in Nampula.
