Nampula: SERNIC apreende drogas

The National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) has seized around 130 kilograms of heroin and methamphetamine in Nampula.

The seizure took place in February as part of the fight against drug trafficking and consumption, according to SERNIC.

According to the police, 42 kilograms of heroin and 90 kilograms of methamphetamine were seized in Mossuril.

SERNIC spokeswoman Enina Tsinine said, as quoted by "Notícias", that in addition to that quantity, three vehicles used by the traffickers to transport the product were also seized.

The source said that one of the individuals arrested in connection with the case transported the drugs from the Nacala-Porto district to the city of Nampula in exchange for 15,000 meticais.

He guaranteed that actions were already underway to neutralize the masterminds, who are now at large.

The accused claimed to have transported the product in a briefcase without knowing it was drugs.

The individual was arrested in the city of Nampula, after being robbed and deprived of more than 600,000 meticais with which he intended to buy a car at the behest of the owners of the drugs he was transporting.
