Nampula: Lack of funds jeopardizes road rehabilitation

Nampula: Falta de fundos compromete reabilitação de estradas

The lack of funds for major construction work is worrying authorities at the National Roads Administration (ANE) in Nampula province.

The head of the Planning Department at the National Roads Administration in Nampula, Juvêncio Valente, was quoted by Radio Mocambique as saying that at the moment only minimal work is taking place to allow traffic to pass through.

Juvêncio Valente said that the roads in Nampula province have not undergone any major rehabilitation since 2020.

According to the source, this year the province needs 460 million meticais for the rehabilitation of 2,600 kilometers of roads, both paved and unpaved.
