The Office for Combating Corruption (GCC) in the province of Nampula has ordered the arrest of 13 public servants, four of them in flagrante delicto.
The information was provided last week by the provincial director of the GCC, Emília Ferrão, on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, celebrated on December 9, according to the publication "Noticias."
According to the same source, since January, the office, which also has jurisdiction in Cabo Delgado province, has registered 171 cases.
He argued that the reality of corruptive acts means that the public-private sector and civil society must be made aware of the need to avoid illicit conduct and the violation of legal, ethical and deontological standards.
"As an office, we have demonstrated our commitment, with 171 cases registered from January to November, 131 of them new and 40 pending cases carried over from last year.
The crimes of passive corruption for an unlawful act, embezzlement and abuse of office or function stand out," the newspaper quoted him as saying.
