United Nations to continue supporting Mozambique in various areas

Nações Unidas vão continuar a apoiar Moçambique em vários domínios

The United Nations will continue to support Mozambique in its efforts to combat terrorism, stabilize the country, provide humanitarian assistance and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The commitment was expressed yesterday by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, after receiving the Letters of Credence from the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Mozambique to the United Nations in New York, according to Rádio Moçambique.

On the occasion, Domingos Fernandes, who was appointed last January, praised the support provided by the UN in its efforts to maintain peace and the country's socio-economic development.

Prior to his appointment, Domingos Fernandes was Mozambique's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, having previously served as Mozambique's high commissioner to Botswana and Mozambique's ambassador to Angola.
