Mozambican boxer Alcinda Panguana won, this Thursday, the silver medal as a result of her defeat in the final of the women's World Boxing Championship, held in Istanbul, Turkey.

In the fight against Ireland's Lisa Edel O'Rourke, Panguana fought until the last minute, but the jury's decision relegated her to second place.

Despite the defeat, Panguana registered the name of the country in the annals of world boxing history, by winning the silver medal, which is the first in the history of Mozambique in this modality.

The title of world runner-up Alcinda Panguana will bring to the country the prize of 50 thousand US dollars.

On Wednesday, May 18, boxer Rady Gramane confirmed her bronze medal win, which earns her the $25,000 US Prize.

Lucas Sinóia's pupils are expected in the country next Monday, May 23, and are expected to land at Mavalane International Airport at 9:00 AM.
