Some analysts argue that the changes made in recent days by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, in the Executive Structure, namely the exoneration and redirection of ministers have to do with two factors: the Hidden Debt and the preparation for a new electoral cycle.
This week, between Wednesday and Thursday, the PR dismissed seven ministers including the Prime Minister, Carlos Agostinho do Rosário, and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Adriano Maleiane, who was already uncomfortable with the management of some aspects of governance, the hidden debts, and the need to give another dynamic to the Government.
One of the explanations highlights that this whole exercise takes place with an eye on the next elections.
In general, analysts agree that the "Hidden Debts" have affected the image of Frelimo, the ruling party, and of its president, Filipe Nyusi.
The jurist Ignésio Inácio, quoted by the voaportugues portal is attentive to the fact that the changes of ministers are occurring "at a time when many voices defend that the President of the Republic be heard in the ongoing trial of the case of the hidden debts," warning that this may be a strategy "to divert the attention of public opinion" to focus on the exonerations and not on their possible involvement in the financial default, he considered.
But for journalist Laurindos Macuácua, "even during the first mandate of the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, [Adriano Maleiane] always wanted to abandon the boat, precisely because he found the state coffers empty, in addition to the role he was forced to play, regarding the Hidden Debts.
Fernando Mbanze, journalist, also says that in relation to Adriano Maleiane, it has nothing to do with some incompetence from the management point of view, because he is an experienced person who dominates the area of economy and finance.
"The problem, perhaps, has to do with the way the hidden debts were managed, especially the pronouncements that Maleiane made on this issue, in addition to his age which no longer helps much to manage a Ministry of Economy and Finance," he stressed.
