Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to exchange 200 prisoners.
Quoted by Euro News, Erdogan said the agreement was a "significant" step forward, but did not provide any further details about the deal.
Erdogan, who met with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week in Uzbekistan, said the Kremlin "wants to end the war as soon as possible."
The Turkish president has managed to maintain ties with Moscow and Kiev since the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24.
Ankara has regularly offered to mediate the conflict "to find an agreement that satisfies everyone" and return Crimea and the occupied territories to Ukraine.
Later today, the Turkish president is expected to address the UN General Assembly in New York.
