Venâncio Mondlane, leader of the nationwide demonstrations, says that the state should compensate the people who were killed by the police during the demonstrations.

In another live broadcast this afternoon, Mondlane demanded that the state create the conditions for decent funerals for the people killed by the police.

Mondlane also demanded the release of all the detainees. "The wounded must also be treated, and this is the state's obligation because the state has abused and criminally used its force," said Mondlane.

"These are the things that have to be done if we want to sit down at the negotiating table," he said in the context of the conditions he was imposing for talks with Frelimo.
