Last Sunday, João dos Santos Ferreira, a veteran of the National Liberation Struggle, died of an illness.

Ferreira held various positions, including Minister of Agriculture between 1983 and 1988 and Member of Parliament.

The funeral ceremonies for João dos Santos Ferreira will be held today at the Maputo City Hall and will be attended by the President of the Republic.

João dos Santos Ferreira was a prominent member of the Association of Combatants of the National Liberation Struggle (ACLLIN) and played an important role in the country's development process.
