Mozambique rises four places in FIFA ranking

The national soccer team, Mambas, has climbed four places in the FIFA rankings, from 117th to 113th with 1179.03 points, according to the most recent update made this Thursday by the governing body of sport.

This rise is the result of the victory over Benin (3-2) and consequent qualification for the African Nations Championship, which will take place in Ivory Coast next year.

As far as the Portuguese-speaking African countries are concerned, Cape Verde is the highest-ranked team so far, occupying 71st place, but the highlight is the Guinea-Bissau team, which has made the biggest leap, climbing six places and now occupying 106th position with 1,1670.7 points.

Angola is in 117th place with 1,1670.7 points, while São Tomé and Príncipe is 188th with 893.69.

At the top of the FIFA world rankings is Argentina, world champions with 1,851.41 points.
