Mozambique plans to build 10,000 small dams in the next 10 years 

Moçambique prevê  construir 10 mil pequenas barragens nos próximos 10 anos 

The government plans to build around 10,000 small dams over the next ten years, with a view to retaining rainwater for human consumption and agriculture, as well as for electricity production, reports Notícias.

The construction of the dams is planned in the recently approved strategic plan of the Water Supply Investment and Heritage Fund (FIPAG), and will take place through public-private partnerships.

The announcement was made recently by the Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Carlos Mesquita, who was inspecting the Estoril water distribution center in the city of Beira.
