Mozambique participates in the SADC Public Accounts Assembly

A delegation from the Mozambican parliament is participating from Monday in the fourteenth annual conference and eighteenth General Assembly of the Association of Public Accounts Commissions of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), to be held in Gaborone, capital of Botswana.

During the meeting, member countries will reflect on the role of the Public Accounts Committees in the state budgeting process and its oversight, as well as understand their impact on facilitating mechanisms and environments conducive to citizen participation in the management of public affairs.

The President of the Planning and Budget Commission and head of the Mozambican delegation, António Niquice, said that Mozambique wants to use this platform to pass on a message about the role of its commission in strengthening citizen participation during the budget process. (RM)
