Moçambique destaca apoio da ONU no combate ao terrorismo

Mozambique's Ambassador to the United Nations, Domingos Estevão Fernandes, praised the support the United Nations has given Mozambique, especially in its efforts to stabilize the country, fight terrorism and provide humanitarian assistance.

The Ambassador was speaking on Wednesday in New York, after presenting the letters accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Mozambique to the United Nations, to the organization's Secretary-General, António Guterres, according to "O País".

Domingos Fernandes highlighted the importance that Mozambique attaches to the UN, not only as the epicenter of global multilateralism, but also as a strategic partner in the country's development process.

For his part, the Secretary-General, António Guterres, hailed Mozambique for its "exemplary performance" during its term as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, 2023-2024, highlighting the country's contribution to bringing together players with opposing positions and to promoting international peace and security.

He assured that the world organization will continue to be committed to mobilizing the international community to support Mozambique in the fight against terrorism and in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. (Source: O País.)
