Mozambique will register three days of national mourning for the death of the Queen of Great Britain, Elizabeth II, which occurred on September 8, at the Balmoral Palace in Scotland.
This tribute will be observed between Saturday (17) and Monday (19), according to the spokesman of the Council of Ministers, Philimon Suaze.
"During the period of national mourning, the National Flag and the Presidential Pavilion will be hoisted at half-mast throughout the national territory and at the diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Mozambique," he said.
The decision comes after the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, wrote that the monarch "gave her entire life to the world with great passion," noting the "affection and respect" she deserved from the Mozambican people.
During his reign, Mozambique enjoyed very good relations with the United Kingdom, affiliating with the Commonwealth as a full member, Nyusi stressed in a condolence message released on the 9th.
Mozambique joined the Commonwealth in 1995, even though it was not a colony of the British Empire, but its neighbors were, supporting membership.
