Justice Minister says it's not "normal" to use real bullets during demonstrations

Ministro da Justiça diz que não é “normal” usar balas verdadeiras durante as manifestações

The Minister of Justice and Constitutional and Religious Affairs, Mateus Saize, says that the use of real bullets to contain demonstrations is not normal.

Quoted by "O País", Saize says that if there are situations of disorder, the government advises the use of rubber bullets and tear gas.

The actions of the Mozambique Republic Police in the demonstrations taking place all over the country, especially in the capital, have raised a wave of questioning from civil society.

The police are often accused of using real bullets to disperse protesters, causing deaths and injuries.

Reacting to the issue, the Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs calls for rationality.

He was speaking on Sunday on the sidelines of the celebration of the fiftieth episcopal anniversary of the Bishop Emeritus of Pemba, Bishop Januário Nhangumbe.
