The Public Prosecutor's Office expelled two prosecutors and an assistant bailiff for corruption offenses, through a decision taken at the XIV Ordinary Session of the Plenary of the institution's Superior Council of the Magistrature.
Among the expelled prosecutors, one was assigned to the Provincial Prosecutor's Office-Maputo and allegedly requested and received money to illegally return a car that had been seized from a citizen.
The other was assigned to the Provincial Prosecutor's Office in Manica and was expelled for an act similar to the previous one, but to order the release of a citizen serving an effective sentence.
The Assistant, working in Sofala, was also arrested for soliciting and receiving money to facilitate the payment of bail for an arrested citizen.
The Attorney General announced earlier this year the growing involvement of magistrates of the Public Prosecutor's Office and Administrative Judiciary in acts of corruption.
Last year, 25 criminal cases were processed against magistrates for the crimes of corruption and embezzlement, of which 14 are from the judicial magistracy, nine from the public prosecutor's office and two from the administrative judicial magistracy.
