A report forecasting the evolution of the foldable cell phone market estimates that 27.6 million of these devices will be sold by 2025.
According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) report, in three years this segment will have a market value of about $29 billion, about 25.5 billion euros. The IDC estimates are based on the rapid growth of this segment, which grew by 260% in 2021 compared to the previous year. Instead of the 1.9 million foldable phones sold in 2020, 7 million devices with flexible screens were sold last year.
For its part, Samsung has been one of the big brands betting on this segment, with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 having generated a big impact on the market when they hit the market in the second half of last year.
Other companies, such as Huawei, have also been contributing to the growth, and Google, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi are also believed to be betting more on foldable phones soon.
