The number of people who have been killed by police officers since the start of the demonstrations protesting the election results is constantly rising.
In the neighborhood of Maxaque, Maputo city, another young man was killed on Friday night (15) by police officers during the peaceful demonstrations called by the presidential candidate, Venâncio Mondlane.
According to sources heard by international television Al JAZEERA, it all happened when the young people took to the streets to demonstrate peacefully using pots, pans and whistles. At this point the police came and started shooting at them, killing a 17-year-old.
"I'm very worried, I need to know how to deal with what's happened now," said the young man's father, visibly shocked.
People heard at the scene were furious about what had happened because the young man who was shot was standing still and the police arrived and fired tear gas and real bullets for no reason.
"People don't want to hear any more about Frelimo because they're tired of the deaths and all the suffering they've been subjected to," said a source at the scene.
Some figures indicate that since the beginning of these demonstrations, more than 40 people have been killed allegedly by the police in various corners of the country.
