The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), in Maputo province, say that the process of voting and partial tabulation of the results of the general elections was orderly and peaceful.
The corporation's spokesman, Rodrigues Tchabana, said that there had been no irregularities during the two phases throughout Maputo province.
"In general, the situation remains calm and under control. This is the preliminary assessment. We will come back in due course to give more details, we are monitoring the situation throughout the province," he said, quoted by Rádio Moçambique.
However, Tchabana promised to bring new data on the voting process and partial tabulation of the election results in the next few hours.
