The process of providing food assistance to families who have lost part of their crops due to the effects of the El Ninho phenomenon in some districts of Maputo province will begin in a few days.
These are families from the districts of Magude, Namaacha, Manhiça and Matutuíne, who were unable to produce enough in the first season of the current agricultural harvest due to the intense heat and irregular rainfall, reports RM.
Around 50 tons of basic necessities are available to support these families, said Sara Matches, provincial delegate of the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction in Maputo.
Quoted by RM, Matches also revealed that work is currently underway to identify the number of families who should receive food aid.
