Two individuals accused of trying to kidnap a 34-year-old Mozambican citizen are being held in cells at the 18th PRM police station in Maputo city.
According to the newspaper "O País", the crime took place on Saturday morning, at stop 007, in the airport district, when the two accused offered a ride to a citizen who was waiting for public transport, bound for the 25 de Junho district, in the same municipality.
According to the publication, during the journey, one of the alleged criminals squeezed the victim's neck with the intention of taking all his belongings and forcing him to contact his family to ask for the ransom money,
The alleged perpetrators deny the accusations and claim that the perpetrator was a friend, who then fled the scene.
Marta Pereira, PRM spokeswoman in Maputo city, believes that those indicted may also be connected to the crimes that recently took place in Katembe. (Source: O País)
