As part of the post-cyclone Freddy reconstruction, the Mayor of Quelimane, Manuel de Araújo, inaugurated, on December 30, three important bridges that re-establish the connection between the city center and the urban districts.
The new infrastructure includes the bridges over the Muarua, Ilalane and Namuinho rivers, which had been severely damaged by the cyclone, according to a press release.
During the event, Manuel de Araújo pointed out that these works are part of a broad reconstruction program, which also includes road improvements and the recovery of two other bridges located in Inhangome and Ivagalane.
However, the mayor regretted the delay in the work on these last two bridges, attributing the problem to the slowness of the contractor responsible.
Despite this, the president expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the newly inaugurated works and praised the efficiency of the company in charge, which managed to complete the project on schedule.
The inauguration ceremony was marked by a march of greetings to the residents, through various arteries of the city and celebrating another step towards the total recovery of Quelimane.
