The Maputo City Council is appealing to drivers not to join the movement to stop and park their vehicles on the carriageways.
The municipality said in a statement that we have seen that the act could cause embarrassment and congestion, preventing the chronically ill, pregnant women, ambulances or funeral vehicles from reaching their destination.
What's more, the municipality believes that the conduct constitutes a "violation of traffic regulations, which could jeopardize road safety and cause congestion that is detrimental to mobility in our city".
The blockade and parking of vehicles on public roads was called by the presidential candidate, Venâncio Mondlane, in protest at the election results.
