Empresa Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), says it is facing difficulties in moving technical teams from picket lines to respond to requests from customers reporting faults, due to the post-election violence.
In a statement, EDM says that there have been prolonged power outages, at a time when the bad weather in some parts of the country is also increasing demand for picket services.
In the note, EDM calls on the public to cooperate by allowing vehicles to circulate, refraining from tampering with the equipment and committing acts of vandalism.
