The Provincial Recruitment and Mobilization Centre in Manica, central Mozambique, has set itself the target of registering around 18,000 young people for military service (MS) this year.
Of this number, 13,395 are male and the rest female, in the campaign that kicked off nationwide and abroad on January 2nd and is scheduled to end on February 28th.
It should be noted that the target set by the Ministry of National Defense (MDN) for this year is far below the projections of the National Statistics Institute (INE), which indicate 56,312 as the number of young people expected to reach the age of 18 in 2025, or 23.7%.
Speaking to AIM, Delmo Mahanjane, the provincial delegate of the Manica recruitment center in Chimoio, explained that 160 mobile brigades and eight mobile brigades have been organized for the success of this campaign.
Delmo Mahanjane assured that all the logistical conditions are in place for the process to take place without major constraints.
The compulsory military census will take place in all 12 districts of Manica province, as assured by the provincial delegate of the Manica Provincial Recruitment and Mobilization Centre.
He said that once the deadline of February 28 has passed, citizens who have not registered for any reason must regularize their military status within 30 days.
