The government will hire a total of 174 teachers this year in Maputo City in order to reduce the student-teacher ratio.

The information was provided by Armando Mutemba, director of the city's Social Affairs Services, according to "Notícias".

The source assured that the process is taking place within the established deadlines.

Mutemba also said that of the total number of vacancies, 34 are elementary school teachers, 50 are secondary school teachers, 24 will be substitute teachers, while 66 are literacy teachers.

"This group is a little behind schedule, but in a short time the new teachers will be in the classrooms, which should happen within a month," he explained to the newspaper.
