The newly elected President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, is keeping his promise and carrying out the largest deportation in US history.
In numerical terms, a total of 14 Mozambicans are on a list of 1,445,549 illegal citizens of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement for deportation.
Among the African countries on this list, Nigeria (3,690), Ghana (3,228) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (1,068) stand out.
In a statement, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said it is working "to remove undocumented citizens from the United States once they are subject to final orders of removal in a timely manner".
In the document, the US government says that "all countries are obliged to accept the return of their citizens and nationals who are not eligible to remain in the United States".
The US warns that countries' lack of cooperation in accepting the return of their nationals could lead to ICE classifying them as "non-cooperative" or at risk of "non-compliance".
The US currently considers 15 countries to be non-cooperative: Bhutan, Burma, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Laos, Pakistan, People's Republic of China, Russia, Somalia and Venezuela.
