The president of the Constitutional Council of Mozambique (CC), Lúcia Ribeiro, is taking part in the 18th session of the executive committee of the General Assembly of the Conference of African Constitutional Courts (CJCA) in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, starting this Friday (24).

A press release from the CC quoted by AIM indicates that the meeting of the CJCA Executive Committee will discuss the action program for 2025, cooperation and scientific activities of the association, as well as updating preparations for the second meeting of African women presidents of justice.

The meeting, the statement said, will also share information on the organization of the 4th International Symposium of the CJCA, to be held in Addis Ababa, and analyze the preparations for the 8th Congress of the CJCA, scheduled for 2026 in the Congolese capital, Kinshasa.

The executive committee of the CJCA meets once a year, in ordinary session, at the call of its president.

The CC, the ultimate decision-making body on legal-constitutional matters and electoral litigation in Mozambique, was elected a member of the CJCA's executive committee for a two-year term.

The election of the CC took place during the 6th CICA Congress, which was held from November 22 to 24, 2022 in Rabat, the capital of Morocco.

Mozambique was elected on a rotating basis, taking into account the regional distribution in the African Union.
