Lançado plataforma de Monitoria de Projectos de Obras Públicas

The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources (MOPHRH) officially launched, on Wednesday July 20th, in Nampula, the Platform for Implementation and Monitoring of Public Works Projects, a tool that will help the Ministry in the management and monitoring of projects in real time and in a detailed manner as to their level of physical and financial execution, including their impact.

The launching is part of the 8th Coordinating Council, which is taking place until Friday, July 22, in that province.

Carlos Mesquita, the minister responsible for this area, said on the occasion that, with this important digital platform, the Ministry will be able, at all times, to evaluate the degree of execution of the objectives and goals of the Economic and Social Plan and the State Budget.

This technological innovation will also allow the evaluation of the Five-Year Government Program and share the information with different actors, such as government institutions, cooperation partners, and the general public: "Reliable and efficient project management is our greatest ambition", he stressed.

During the 8th Coordinating Council, the Minister also referred to the launching, on Friday, July 22, in Nampula, of the Northern Mozambique Urban Development Program, financed by the Government and the World Bank as well as the signing of the Regulation Agreement between AURA and the Mussoril District Government, which aims to establish an effective and mutually respectful partnership between AURA, IP and the Mossuril District Government, for the implementation of a local regulatory regime for water supply and sanitation systems.

"This project, to be implemented, in a first phase, in the municipalities of Nampula, Nacala Porto, Pemba, and Montepuez and with a duration of 5 years, aims, essentially, to improve the housing conditions of the population in vulnerable situations and the basic infrastructures, such as access roads, drainage, water, and energy," explained the minister.

For three consecutive days, the MOPHRH will focus on the role of the Inspectorate General of Public Works, the role of the Mozambique Engineering Laboratory, and the functionality of the Licensing Commission for Civil Construction Contractors and Consultants to ensure the quality of public works, among other aspects related to national and regional economic development.

"It is our objective during these three days of work, to take stock of the Economic and Social Plan and the State Budget and to evaluate, at mid-term, the degree of implementation of the strategic actions defined in the Government's Five-Year Program 2020-2024, for the Public Works, Housing and Water Resources sector. For this purpose, we will analyze and debate about our performance in all areas, namely roads and bridges, water supply and sanitation, water resources and housing", emphasized Carlos Mesquita.
