French international striker Kylian Mbappé was unveiled this Tuesday as Real Madrid's new signing, after signing a contract until 2029.
The Madrid man joins the Spanish champions after several successful seasons with Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappé arrives at Real Madrid as one of the best footballers in the world after seven top seasons at PSG, where he scored 256 goals in 308 games.
On Tuesday morning, the French star underwent the usual medical examinations and signed a contract with the Merengues. In a stadium with around 80,000 fans, Kylian Mbappé was presented as the new signing for the European club champions.
Mbappé said at the presentation that he was living out a childhood dream by representing Real Madrid, which he considers to be the greatest club in the history of soccer.
"It's incredible to be here, incredible. For many years I've dreamed of playing for Real Madrid and today my dream has come true. I'm a very happy kid. I've dreamed a lot about being here, but I have another dream, which is to be a match for the best club in the world. I'm going to give my life for this club and this shield," he said, as quoted by the international press.
Mbappé thanked Real Madrid for never giving up on him, even after several postponements due to agreements with the owners of PSG and the President of France. "I want to thank President Florentino Pérez, who trusted me from day one. Many things have happened... but thank you.
I'd also like to thank all the people who worked to get me here. I know it was hard work, but we won. I'm here, I'm a Real Madrid player. I see my family, they're happy, I see my mother crying", continued the striker.
To end his speech, the captain of the French national team, as if recalling the presentation of his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo, in 2009, shouted the club's motto in unison with the many fans present at Real Madrid's home: "1,2,3 Hala Madrid".
That set the tone for what is expected to be a successful day for Madrid's new idol.
The Real Madrid president, who entered the pitch accompanied by Zinédine Zidane and José Martínez Pirri, highlighted the presence of the former Merengues player and coach and welcomed the new player.
"Dear Zidane, 12 years ago you invited a little boy to visit Valdebebas and today he is here. The time has come to welcome an exceptional player who is coming to help us keep winning, who is coming to fulfill the dream of his life. We welcome Kylian Mbappé," he was quoted as saying by various international media.
The ceremony ended at 12.15 p.m., after Mbappe had handed out footballs in the stands, while the masses of fans chanted the athlete's name and Madrid songs.
