A group of researchers from the University of Colorado at Boulder seems to have discovered a new technique that allows electronic devices to be charged (almost) instantly.
According to a News to the MinuteThe study was published in the scientific journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and indicates that a cell phone (for example) would only take 60 seconds to recharge to 100%. The solution seems to lie in the movement of the ions, with the study describing the technique needed to create a more efficient and therefore faster movement.
However, the same publication states that it is unlikely that this innovation will be among us any time soon, as more research and investigation is needed before the technology materializes into products ready to hit the market.
However, it would undoubtedly be useful to have the ability to recharge your cell phone, watch, laptop and (who knows) electric cars in a matter of seconds or a few minutes.
