The National Meteorological Institute (INAM) warns that an atmospheric low pressure system has formed in the southwest Indian Ocean basin, northeast of the island of Madagascar.

The system has the potential to evolve into a moderate tropical storm next Thursday, INAM said in a statement today.

However, according to the same statement, the phenomenon does not yet pose a danger to the Mozambique Channel or the continental part of the country.
