To celebrate World Earth Day (April 22), a date celebrated by more than 90 countries for 43 years, HEINEKEN Mozambique promoted a significant initiative, planting 200 trees in the village of Xinavane, located in the Manhiça District, Maputo Province..
The action promoted by the Ministry of Land and Environment in partnership with the brewery HEINEKEN raises everyone's awareness of the importance of preserving the Earth as a condition for the survival of species and, above all, for future generations, thus calling on each individual to make sustainable use of the Earth, which is everyone's heritage.
Manuel Simão Nuvunga Tule, Governor of Maputo Province, who led the ceremony, encouraged those present to adopt the use of biodegradable packaging in their daily lives, as a way of reducing the harmful effects of plastic on the ecosystem, since they have a long life and can destroy various species.
Manuel Tule recalled the recent floods in the south, emphasizing that this is a consequence of climate change that can be avoided by the correct action of man.
HEINEKEN Mozambique is committed to reducing carbon emissions and protecting biodiversity. This action reiterates the organization's commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions to build a greener and more sustainable future. The action not only represents the delivery of trees, but also reinforces the determination to promote sustainability in all operations.
In addition, the Dutch company Heineken is internationally recognized for its sustainable practices in various areas. Under the "Building a Better World" strategy, Heineken prioritizes the protection of water resources, the reduction of CO² emissions, sustainable improvements in the supply chain, social and environmental responsibility, the promotion of health and safety, advocacy of responsible consumption and growth with communities. These actions exemplify the company's commitment to promoting responsible environmental management and contributing to a more sustainable world.
Through these initiatives, HEINEKEN demonstrates its active involvement in preserving the environment and its commitment to sustainability, not only locally in Mozambique, but also globally. The planting of trees and the adoption of sustainable practices reflect the importance of corporate engagement in protecting the planet and promoting a greener, more balanced future.
The tree planting ceremony was attended by the Governor of Maputo Province, the Mayor of Manhiça, local authorities and the population of Xinavane village.
