The Maputo Central Hospital (HCM) is not receiving food for patients due to the difficulty of circulation caused by the protests in Maputo city.
The substitute clinical director, Eugénia Macaça, said that if the situation prevails, there is a risk of reducing patients' meals.
"We have a capacity of 1,500 beds, but at the moment we have an average of 900 inpatients.
We needed to have meals for these patients, in the right quantity and quality. What we're going to do with what we have, we're going to give, but it's not enough, because the patients aren't satisfied," explained the substitute clinical director, quoted by "O País".
With regard to admissions on the 24th, Eugénia Macaça shared that the HCM received 161 patients, 117 of whom were trauma patients.
Of this number, 19 were caused by falls, 14 by traffic accidents, eight by physical aggression, four by stab wounds and 62 by firearms, including serious and moderate patients.
Speaking to the press during the HCM's weekly briefing, Eugénia Macaça said that medical services were being restricted due to a lack of health professionals.
"We are going through a critical moment at Maputo Central Hospital, with the number of trauma patients higher than in other years at this time, and with the number of health professionals reduced.
This reduction in the number of health professionals is due to the difficulty in getting to the health unit," said the deputy clinical director.
The HCM has once again appealed for permission for health workers and ambulances to pass through in order to provide care for patients.
