Maputo Central Hospital (HCM) is resorting to alternative treatment to care for around a thousand cancer patients, due to the breakdown of the radiotherapy machine since September.

This is a scenario that worries patients, as the broken machine is the only one available in a public hospital in the whole country.

Cited by "Noticias", the director of HCM's Radiotherapy Services, Morais Gudo, explained that the machine's failure was detected and that the replacement parts have already been ordered from Germany and are currently in South Africa, from where they will be sent to Mozambique.

He also said that, faced with the situation, the hospital has resorted to alternative treatments to improve patients' health and reduce the pain caused by cancer.
